Jennifer Mauro has been a journalist for 26 years – working in secular press in New York, New Jersey and Bavaria, Germany, before moving into Catholic press in 2016. As a journalist for secular media, she coordinated news coverage during/after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks; two N.J. governor’s races; state legislation on physician-assisted suicide; and military deployments, to name a few.
In Catholic press, Jen was the associate editor of The Monitor Magazine, Diocese of Trenton, before taking the helm of the Catholic Star Herald.
She has also worked as a freelance book editor, and associate professor of journalism at Rutgers University. She also got to present on women in journalism at the United Nations. Jen grew up in Texas; she became Catholic in 2005. She has traveled to 27 countries.
All of these experiences, she hopes, have led her to a greater understanding of people and cultures; an openness to new ideas and business strategies, and a commitment to empathy and listening.
